Also try the Internet, there are plenty of companies who now advertise their services online. Upon contacting them describe exactly what works you want done and discover if they have carried out similar projects to yours before. This way you will be able to produce a short list of contractors to consider for the project.
3. Once you have a short list together you can then ask them to provide you with references for other projects that they have completed. Also get them to provide you with contact details of the clients they have worked for. It is important that you make sure you have permission to contact these people direct before you do so. Once you do contact these clients then ask them if the work was finished on time and within the budget limits. Also it is important that you get the contractors to provide you with a copy of a sample bid. This will then help you see just how much detail is placed within them. You do not want to use a contractor who is only going to provide you with very basic numbers and is then going to start requesting further funds as the project progresses for items which have not been included within their bid.
4. It is also important that you find out from the contractor you are considering using, whether they employ all their own laborers or if they sub contract out any of the work. If they do sub contract then find out how well they know the people that they are using?
Finally when choosing a contractor for your kitchen remodel project make sure that they have the right kinds of insurance and that these are all up to date. Also when it comes to choosing contractors for carrying out the work you require, ensure that they are willing to follow the plans that you will be providing and will not try to make alterations or changes without first discussing the matter with you.
