Small Kitchen
from:When it comes to small kitchen remodeling projects there are certain areas that need to be addressed in order make the best use of the space you have available. Certainly with a small kitchen you need to look at the amount of counter and storage space you have available. In this article we provide some tips on how to help maximize the limited space available when it comes to a small kitchen remodel.
Tip 1 – Counter Space
Look to using what floor space you have in your kitchen by installing as much counter space as you possibly can. As part of your design make the counters much deeper and so they occupy as much space as possible. Including integral appliances in your kitchen design plans rather than having stand alone ones can actually help provide you with more counter top space as they can be placed right over the top of the appliances than finishing on either side of it.
Tip 2 – Cabinets
Include as many cabinets as possible into your design. Choose to use cabinets that have more depth so that you can put larger appliances away when not being used. This will then leave you with more counter space for preparing food. If you want rather than getting cabinets with doors that open outwards you can go for units that have large slide out draws instead. Or if you have a galley style kitchen look to having sliding doors instead.
Tip 3 – Sink
Often people will prefer to go for a small sink in their design for a small kitchen. But it may be better to go for something a little larger than normal as this will make it easier for you to clean your pots and pans. Plus it is ideal for using as a utility area if you need to.
Tip 4 – Appliances
No longer are you restricted to having large cumbersome pieces of equipment in your home. Today there are many companies that produce dishwashers and washing machines that are much slimmer but are still able to carry out the work of the normal sized models. By having this kind of equipment in your kitchen you will be able to look at having additional storage space installed which means you will end up with more preparation space.
Tip 5 – Lighting
When it comes to a small kitchen remodeling project having the right kind of lighting installed will help make the room appear much bigger than it is. Look at including some kind of under cabinet and counter lighting into your design plans.
We have provided you with a number of tips to consider for a small kitchen remodeling project. These should help ensure that you have all the benefits that a normal size kitchen can offer.
